SEBAC Congratulates Primary Winners

DonkeyElephantThe State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) congratulated the winners, Democratic and Republican, of the August 10 primaries. Looking ahead to the November general elections, the labor coalition urges campaigns to focus on issues and ideas instead of the negativity that has characterized recent campaigning. Raising CSU Managers' Pay Raises Ire

After Governor Rell asked the trustees of the Connecticut State University System (CSU) to rescind raises that would increase the CSU chancellor's and university presidents' salaries by 10%, the trustees voted to reduce the raises to 5%. Rell also called for a plan to eliminate the CSU central office and for legislation that would bring employment functions for all of public higher education, including the community colleges, under the State Personnel Act.

State Treasurer, SEBAC say Pension Fund is Financially Sound

A recent study out of Northwestern University predicts the State Employee Pension Fund will be broke by 2019. Both State Treasurer Denise Nappier and SEBAC say the study is fundamentally flawed and defend the the Pension Fund''s ability to meet its obligations.
