Waivers for Adjuncts

When a college wants an adjunct to teach more than 8 credits in a semester, management asks both the union and the employee to sign a waiver that allows management to violate our Contract. Without the waiver, the adjunct would be covered by the same agreement that covers full-time members. This is not good for adjuncts and should be used only in true emergencies.

Adjuncts May Qualify for Health Insurance

Part-time faculty who teach at multiple state college/university systems (community colleges, state universities, UConn.) and who teach 9 credits or more qualify for a health insurance reimbursement for the months that they are teaching.

Part-time Lecturers who have taught 24 credits or more (at least 18 credits at one college) may sign up for the Part-Time Lecturers Seniority Pool. Pool members must be offered at least one course in their discipline at their college if one is available.

Part-Timers Job Bank
Part-timers who want to teach at additional colleges are invited to join the 4C's Job Bank. The union periodically publishes and distributes Job Bank information to campus personnel who are responsible for part-time appointments.
